The original Galaxy Buds Pro launched in 2021 with great sound and a fit that reviewers politely called "shallow". Three-plus years of silicone aging later, "shallow" has become "escapes during a phone call" for a lot of owners. Here's how to get a 2021 earbud gripping like it's new.
Why the first Buds Pro slip
Two reasons stack up. By design, the Buds Pro sits close to the surface of your ear with small, short tips; there was never much grip margin. By age, silicone stretches and picks up a permanent oil sheen, spending whatever margin there was. The earbud that stayed put in 2021 now backs out at the first jaw movement.
Squeeze the last grip out of the stock tips
- Wash them. Warm water, a drop of soap, dry fully. De-oiled silicone grips noticeably better.
- Size up. If you wore medium in 2021, stretched mediums now behave like smalls.
- Run the fit test. Galaxy Wearable app, Earbud settings, "Earbud fit test", per ear.
- Twist-lock on insertion. Rotate the seated earbud slightly backwards; it hooks behind the canal ridge.
The upgrade path: foam tips made for the Buds Pro
Replacement silicone brings back 2021; memory foam beats it. Foam expands to fill your ear canal completely, which fixes the Buds Pro's original shallow-fit weakness rather than just patching it. Better grip, better seal, better ANC, fuller bass, one change.

Fitting foam, the right way:
Keep or upgrade?
A working Buds Pro with fresh foam tips is still a very listenable earbud. Spend the few euros, wear them a week, and only then decide whether you really need this year's model. Everything that fits is on the Galaxy Buds Pro fit page.
Frequently asked questions
Were the original Galaxy Buds Pro always this loose?
The 2021 Buds Pro shipped with unusually shallow, small tips; fit complaints were common in reviews at launch. Add a few years of silicone stretch and the marginal fit many people started with becomes a genuinely loose one.
Samsung doesn't sell replacement tips for this model anymore. What now?
Third-party tips are the standard route for older earbuds, and often an upgrade over the originals. Make sure they're made for the Buds Pro's bore size and check that the earbuds still fit the charging case; foamigo's Buds Pro tips are designed for both.
Is it worth fixing the fit instead of upgrading to newer Buds?
If the battery still lasts a listening session, yes. The Buds Pro still sounds good, and new tips cost a fraction of a new pair. Fix the fit first, then decide with your ears instead of the marketing.
Why don't manufacturers include foam eartips in the box?
Because silicone lasts practically forever. A silicone tip can be used for 5 to 10 years, so manufacturers can bundle it once and forget about it. Memory foam adapts to your ear but wears out: with daily use a set typically needs replacing after about six months, when the foam stops sealing properly. That's why foam tips are an upgrade you choose, not a default in the box.
